Shelley Brouwer, Hallie’s mom, has written a memoir about life with her sweet daughter. Shelley’s book, Because She Was is a universal tale of a mother’s love. The book shares authentically the deep joy that raising a child with disability brings as well as the challenges. Because She Was tells of the incredible way Hallie chose to live her life; with honesty, trust, and courage – and the beautiful way her life impacted so many others.
