Wellspring’s Colorado Springs campus recently started their new Fall trimester and one of the new classes that our STARS are enjoying is Chapter Chat. The STARS had the opportunity to vote for the book they wanted to read, and the book that was unanimously chosen was Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz. The best-selling 2017 novel is the first in The Descendants book series that roughly follows Disney’s Descendants films. The book covers the adventures of the children of many famous Disney heroes and villains, including Beast and Belle, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Maleficent, Cruella De Vil, Ursula the Sea Witch, and Captain Hook. Every Thursday, we read three to four chapters and discuss the motivations of the characters and how the children are like or unlike their parents.
For many STARS, a highlight of the week is choosing to purchase their own drinks or yummy baked goods from the 1979 Coffee Shop inside the Woodmen Valley Chapel Rockrimmon campus. Many sincere thanks to Natalie and the other 1979 baristas for their boundless generosity and kindness! Also, thanks to Grace and Margaret Morris for the gluten free treats!
