James is a force of music, adventure, and humor. He does it all; from playing three instruments (drums, synthesizer, and tuba) to skiing down mountains fast, to mastering impressions of some of his favorite animated characters. James exudes warmth and is a natural leader. If given the opportunity, he’ll show you his favorite DVDs, VHS, and CDs from his extensive collection. He loves to share his passions with others including his passion for Wellspring’s Online Program.

James participates in Wellspring Online from his home on the western slope. The Online Program not only gives James an opportunity to further explore his interests in his Music Club, Disney Dynamics, and Magic School Bus classes, but also gives him an opportunity to connect with others. James LOVES his teachers and has a very difficult time deciding on his favorite class, but what he likes most about the Online Program is, “… that I get to interact with other people that have disabilities, like me.” Through Wellspring Online James has found that he has a lot in common with the friends he has made in his classes from his interest in movies to using a wheelchair to support his mobility. Though he is miles away from his fellow online STARS and teachers, he has a strong sense of community and belonging.  

Next month, Wellspring Online is launching an advisory board of which James will be a founding member.  In fact, he has the opportunity to collaborate with the Online Program Team in course creations for the next trimester.  Through his online classes, he has shined as a leader and is hopeful that upcoming classes will reflect his values of being useful, working hard and never giving up, as well as asking for help when you need it.

James is excited to share that he has just started rehearsals with Symphony in the Valley, where he will be playing the tuba. He is committed to doing more of the activities he loves and his music will certainly shine.
