Hello all! This is your column for Home and Community Based Services, updates from Health Care Policy and Finance and information about resources. This month’s column is about your STAR’s waiver services.
On March 1, 2021, Health Care Policy and Finance (HCPF) released a new memo about additional ways the STARS can utilize their waiver funding specifically for Specialized Day Habilitation (SH) and Supported Community Connector (SCC). This memo authorizes a new way for SH and SCC to be delivered through one on one interaction. This means if a provider is able to offer the service with one staff and one STAR, you can now have this added to your Service Plan.
In addition, this memo is allowing for those members who had Supported Employment in their service plan but may not have be able to utilize it much during the Public Health Emergency, to transfer those un-used units to SH or SCC. Those units however cannot exceed the utilization from the previous Service Plan year.
If these changes are something you are interested in accessing, please contact your Case Manager to discuss your options. At this time Wellspring is not able to offer services in a one to one format.
If you have questions or would like more information on a service or resource, please email Whitney Kurka, Wellspring Resource Coordinator, at wkurka@wearewellspring.org. Your answer may be in the next Resource Readings column!
