If you’ve spent time at Wellspring, chances are that you’ve met Amy. As one of the original program members who baked in Mary Lou’s kitchen, she has long been a bright light in our community. Today, she’s experiencing a new kind of freedom as one of the first residents at Unity on Wolfensberger.
Our independent living program does more than provide a place to live. It’s creating opportunities for adults with I/DD to experience dignity, choice, connection, and a true sense of belonging. In her new home, Amy has found all those things.
While Amy is enjoying the independence of having her own space: making her own meals, decorating, and choosing how she spends her time – she is never far from friends. Whether it’s meeting friends and neighbors for dinner in the lobby, joining BINGO at Unity on Park, or staying connected through the resident group chat, community is always close by.
“I moved into my new home in June, and I love it because I have made really good friends here.”
One of Amy’s first celebrations in her new home was a housewarming party. As family and friends gathered around her, she wasn’t simply showing them where she lived; she was welcoming them into a home that reflected her independence and pride.
Amy is finding the most freedom in the everyday moments. She loves that she gets to make her own meals and isn’t as reliant on her parents to transport her to work and appointments. Now she enjoys hanging out with them on the weekends and grabbing lunch after Saturday morning classes.
When asked what she is most proud of, Amy’s answer says it all: “I moved into my new condo on Wolf and have the freedom to be myself here.”

Jason is making many social connections! In some of The Cooperative classes, he has seemingly come out of his shell and will share his interests and be openly playful with volunteers and others. He has really shown us his funny, goofy side, as well as being helpful in class this trimester!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer Celebration this month! Since the very first six weeks of summer programming in 2008, Summer Celebration has been a cherished Wellspring tradition where we come together and celebrate our community.

Through a partnership with Sunday Salmon, residents have found more than a place to enjoy a meal. They’ve found connection, purpose, and belonging. What began as a monthly residential outing has grown into a weekly volunteer opportunity for Buddy, Zach, and Emilio. Alongside other volunteers, they welcome guests, set the tables, and clean up. Buddy, Zach, and Emilio all agree that while they love the opportunity to give back, they love the food even more.
Buddy shares, “Whatever is on the menu, count me in, please!”
More than a volunteer opportunity, Sunday Salmon has become a place where residents are known, welcomed, and valued. Mary shares that the three residents bring “so much love and light” to their dining room. “Everyone is welcome and everyone has a seat at the table. Beautiful community is created through inclusion.”

Club 21
Club 21 is a monthly Friday social where people of all ages and abilities connect through themed activities, snacks, and friendship. Advance registration required. August’s Club 21 theme is Hawaiian Lu’au!
Art Studio Cooperative @ the Castle Rock Farmers Market
The Cooperative will be at the Castle Rock Farmers Market most Sundays this summer from 9:00-2:00! We will be setting up a retail table in front of the Collective and selling our Ceramics, Framed Art, Cards, Watercolor Kits, Coffees, Lemonade and Baked Goods. Be sure to stop by, say “Hi,” grab a treat and buy some art!
Our offices and in-person day program will be closed August 28th for an in-service day. Wellspring Online will be offering classes available to all enrolled program members to join during the closure.
